  1. Hi - it's NSS time :)

See link - and 'done it' when you've done it :)

  2. Hi Urvashi,

Your project is starting to head in a lovely direction. Your preproduction drawings and supporting work is stunning in itself. Full of charm and character.

The big struggle with a project such as this is purely the idea that your production work keeps the original charm of your supporting artwork. And it seems you are making progress. The models are starting to look more akin to your drawings, but they could still be pushed further.

This may be done with further tweaks of the geometry, or simply developing textures and lighting. For example, trying to smooth normals rather than smooth preview with mental ray may provide a more pleasing result.

Keep pushing yourself in this direction, as it is hugely important to the quality of your final film, but also the aspect that often gets dropped earliest in production. Hope this helps a bit, it'll be a struggle to really make it come to life, but it'll be worth it. If you have any questions, come and find me. :)

  3. I spoke to Alan about the best approach to some of the things we spoke about earlier and he had similar ideas. Basically, keeping the quality of your preproduction work. Alan suggested looking at Molly's minor project from last year.

The character was rendered with surface shaders, so things are made in 3d but appear very 2d. Combine this with some subtle hand drawn textures and bingo! :) Hope it helps.
